Why another church location?
We believe that Jesus invites every follower to “live as a missionary” to their community
(Matthew 28v18-20; Acts 1v8).
The goal isn’t “to make it easier for followers of Jesus to gather.” Rather, we want to make it easier for followers of Jesus to engage in mission together to people in their part of the city.
House Churches in the Sunset area will be able to focus on joint mission opportunities (ie. schools, community centers, sports) that happen in our part of the city.
If I join Sunset, am I leaving Solid Rock?
NO. Absolutely NOT.
We are now “one church, gathering in three locations” with the same leadership, budget, core values, mission, worship expression, and teaching. All three locations will enjoy the same teaching (live!) each week. Jose Zayas will lead the teaching team for the Sunset Church.
Where will Sunset gather?
We’re praying and researching several options. Our ideal location would be close to Hwy 26 and Cornelius Pass Road. Please join us in praying for open doors.
Who will lead Sunset?
Jose Zayas will lead the teaching team for Solid Rock Sunset, Brook Mosser (current Solid Rock Westside High School Pastor), and Steve Marshman (Solid Rock Elder) will serve and help recruit more leaders.
What are the plans/timeline to launch Sunset?

House Churches: New house churches will be launched in the fall that will connect with the Sunset campus. House Churches are the most natural way to gather groups of people committed to love, care, and serve the people of our city.
More than just a new gathering, we want to be known as a “church of House Churches” on mission together throughout the week.
Gatherings: Starting in January 2012, based on the number of House Churches and people committed to launch, we’ll slowly increase the frequency of our gatherings. We’ll move to weekly gatherings and “officially launch” once there are enough people involved in mission to this part of the city through House Churches.
Do I have to move to Hillsboro or the “Sunset Corridor” to be involved in the church?
No. We expect that God will lead people to the church for all sorts of reasons from across the city.
BUT our mission and focus will clearly be the communities where we gather and have House Churches, with a particular focus on Hillsboro.
What can I do to help with the mission?
Start a House Church in our part of the city. There will be more information and training this fall to get you started.
